17th - 18th March 2009

This is now very much a transitional period as we exit from one highly concentrated block of alignments only to find ourselves heading for another. This means that several of the prominent planetary alignments that exerted such a great effect over the last few weeks are now beginning to fade and at least for the next few days there is little of major interest.

Perhaps the most important element of this current alert is the current phase of the Moon, which at around 50 % illuminated means we are very much in the so called ‘doldrum period’. As a result the overall emotional intensity may be somewhat reduced in comparison to previous days and the last week in particular. Likely traits include lowered self confidence and enthusiasm with apparent doubts and misgivings that could make it hard to contemplate making important decisions.

Similarly there may be a loathing for situations requiring a high degree of responsibility and conversely there may be an attraction towards escapism in its limitless guises. One factor of this is that it could prove detrimental to ones daily routine. as other more distracting influences could prove difficult to resist.

At its most extreme this mood could result in depressive and over pessimistic inclinations, whereas for some it may simply represent a time of unenthusiastic, bored or tedious emotions that will long for excitement and variety rather than a humdrum routine. Certain to say that those facing a tight deadline will find themselves especially pressured whereas those able to take things very much at their own pace with a carefree and undemanding attitude may find this atmosphere especially attractive.

The Sun still remains in alignment with Uranus and although this conjunction is now beginning to fade it still remains influential. For just over a week this has contributed to bizarre, strange and out of character moods and feelings with thoughts that may occasionally seem as if they have come from the mind of another person. This can also result in wild, extreme or disordered behaviour with restless nervous energy and flights of the imagination that may verge towards original, creative or even perverse moods and cravings. There may also be a tendency towards simmering animosities, anger or even extreme family upheaval, that despite the so called ‘doldrum period’ could result in highly nasty scenes and experiences, as well as a ruthless, drastic or dramatic resolution to even trivial problems. To some extent these will be balanced by the continuing opposition between the Sun and Saturn, but the risk of extreme situations will still exist.

On the more positive side this mood inclines towards a laid back and languid demeanour that will suit those able to take things easy. It may also offer creative solutions to difficult problems with inventive and constructive insight leading to plans and ideas that one may not otherwise have contemplated.

The next few days will continue in a similar manner, with a less than inspired attitude but also the possibility to free ones mind of stress and embark - if possible - on a much needed period of rest and relaxation.

Alert is 7.5. Moon 59% illuminated.
