4th - 5th March 2009

Today sees a continuation of a steady trend over the last few days which has provided a broadly similar mood atmosphere.

In greater detail this forms a period of complex and at times challenging moods and feelings. One of the principal elements of this alert is the opposition between the Sun and Saturn. For some days now this has provided emotions that hinge around lowered confidence and self esteem with unsure and uncertain inclinations that may offer a poor sense of motivation and encouragement. In addition there may be a tendency towards depression and despondency so that it may feel harder to get going. Under these circumstances there may be a bleak appreciation of the future with an over pessimistic view of ones future prospects. On the other hand this opposition can also foster better discipline and control, but with a strictly limited range of emotional expression.

Another prime feature of this period is the continuing alignment between Mars, Mercury and Neptune. For some days now this has contributed to increased awareness, sensitivity and perception as well as intense nervous restlessness that above all may play havoc with sleep patterns. As well as this there may be a disposition to panic attacks, anxiety or emotional turmoil. This means that problems may weigh heavily on the mind to an extent where solutions may be hard to contemplate. Inevitably there may be a desire to take the edge off the atmosphere and this may lead to increased reliance on drugs, drink or comfort eating, or indeed any means possible to achieve a degree of emotional relief. Indeed this is an atmosphere that will all too easily dispose towards escapism in its limitless guises, and as a distraction is likely to play havoc with a well ordered routine.

In summary this is a mood of quite definite challenge in one of the years most concentrated periods of planetary alignments. Emotions may be driven to extremes and over the coming days there may be a potential to accentuate the more sombre and deflating of mood attributes as we enter the so called ‘doldrum period’ which comes midway between the New Moon and Full Moon, or vice versa. It means that for the next few days the emotional spectrum will be heightened and subject to unsettling influences.

On the more positive side this atmosphere offers a unique element of zestful energy together with a creative mixture of intuitive emotion that will enable a wide spectrum of fresh and interesting ideas. Above all this may offer spontaneous solutions of a highly original nature.

Alert is 8. Moon 55% illuminated.
