15th - 16th January 2009

The fast changing series of Lunar alignments that characterised the earlier part of the week are now over. This means that moods will be slightly more dependable with less of the more extreme nature that was a feature of the past three or four days. However there is still need to be cautious as there a several factors that may cause problems.

The fact is we are now heading for the period we often refer to here as the ‘emotional doldrums’. This comes mid way between New Moon and Full Moon, or vice versa, and is characterised by a short but important period of more sedate and easy going moods. Unfortunately these are also susceptible to depressive or flattened emotions with reduced self confidence and enthusiasm. Under these circumstances there may be a poor sense of self esteem with pessimistic inclinations and lack of drive and ambition.

For others this may simply register as a period of bored and disinterested feelings during which it may be difficult to summon up any spark of inspiration, even for ones favourite pursuits.

On this occasion the ‘doldrum period’ is likely to see a boost from the alignment between Mercury and Jupiter. This is still not at a peak but is already contributing to more aware and zestful emotions including a vital degree of nervous stimulus that may prevent feelings from becoming too flattened over the next two or three days.

The influence of Jupiter may induce a sense of adventure, with the potential for reckless risk taking, exaggerated behaviour, or extravagant inclinations. It will also provide a boost of optimism with the possibility of good humoured responses and a fun loving disposition.

The reality is that the current situation will be a balance of the above mentioned features so that the more agreeable traits will prevent the less agreeable ones from becoming too apparent. However the opposite will also be true, and will likely mean that this is a time of stunted emotions with a stagnant, entrenched and limited horizons.

Alert is 8. Moon 67% illuminated.
