We are now in a short but intense period of Lunar alignments that will exert a strong influence over moods for the next few days. During this spell emotions may be sharply polarised with extremes of experience in what is a highly volatile mood situation.

More specifically the Moon is now in opposition to Venus, and is soon about to come into opposition with Uranus. In addition the Moon will also shortly align with Saturn, and as the various characteristics of these planets are very different it will lead to a highly confusing period with very unstable emotions.

Until 07:00 GMT (03:00 EDT) on the 15th of January the Moon will remain in opposition to Venus. This will create more affectionate and caring moods and feelings with a better sense of harmony and rhythm. On the other the Moon is soon about to come into opposition with Uranus and this will lead to altogether more unsettled emotions.

As frequent visitors to this site will know Moon/Uranus conjunctions are out of the top category of unsettled mood circumstances. Likely traits include bizarre, perverse, or out of character moods and emotions together with an inclination towards unusual tastes and values. Added to this there may be extreme mood swings with upheaval in the family setting. This could means arguments and volatile exchanges with a tendency towards drastic or dramatic solutions to even the most trivial of problems. There will also be changeable or restless moods and feelings with trouble in settling or feeling at ease.

In reality the worst aspect of the Moon/Uranus opposition will be balanced by both the effects of Venus mentioned above, and also the coming alignment between the Moon and Saturn. This will influence more subdued and restrained emotions with limited though disciplined inclinations. It may also lead to a lowered sense of optimism and self esteem and a diminished sense of confidence.

Since the Moon/Saturn alignment will not occur until around 05:00 GMT (01:00 EDT) on the 15th of January it means that the earlier part of this alert will be conditioned by the more extreme nature of Uranus that will be especially noticeable after 18:00 GMT (14:00 EDT) in a period of influence that will extend for at least 36 hours.

In summary this is a mood of contrasting extremes, with the gentler, kinder and more affectionate nature of Venus contrasted by the extreme , perverse and unsettled characteristics of Uranus. Then, as we have mentioned there is the limited, controlled but depressive disposition of Saturn that will all combine together to produce a highly colourful period of moods and emotions that will define the next few days or so.
