This atmosphere continues to be one of highly sensitive, alert and vulnerable mood pressures that for some may be a bit too much for comfort.

Certain to say that the year will end with heightened moods and feelings that reflect the varied celestial pattern of this time. In many respects this highlights a period where strong, forceful and very direct feelings will be countered and balanced by more reserved, depressive and unsure mood patterns. This may lead to lack of confidence, and self esteem, with a doubtful and fearful disposition that may see problems magnified and assume undue dimensions.

The ongoing alignment of Mercury and Jupiter will ensure a blend of nervous energy with more generous, humorous and fun loving emotions that will be an ideal accompaniment to New Years celebrations. On the other hand this alignment can incline towards exaggerated or extravagant gestures with nervous episodes that may include an over worrying attitude laden with fears and apprehensions. The present alert pattern shows very little difference to that of just 24 hours ago. Essentially this means a tense and anxious immediate post New Moon period with definite anxieties that will be exaggerated by numerous planetary alignments. These include the alignment of Mercury and Jupiter that will add enhanced awareness, perception, as well as a more zestful atmosphere.

The down side to this is that there may be a worrying and apprehensive disposition with agitated, turbulent or confused emotions that may not easily be pacified.

The effects of the Venus/Neptune alignment will mean a better sense of values with refined tastes that will incline towards things of rhythm and beauty and particularly a love of music. This alignment also enhances affection and feelings of intimacy though these may be misdirected, misinterpreted or otherwise subject to deceitful or self deluding dispositions. This is still very much a New Moon atmosphere with plenty of nervous tension that in conjunction with numerous planetary alignments is contributing to a period of greatly heightened moods and awareness.

We are now at the height of no fewer that three planetary alignments. These involve the alignment between Venus and Neptune, as well as the fast moving conjunction between Jupiter and Mercury. In addition to this there is the long term alignment involving Saturn and Uranus.

The sum total of the above mentioned alignments is a sensitive, delicate, and at times aggressive emotional scene that could be subject to extremes of mood and feeling. Today is the day of the New Moon and feelings are running understandably high. As a result there may be increased aggression and anxiety with an enhanced sense of awareness.

At this time the Moon is also in alignment with Mars whose bellicose, passionate and forthright and influences will not be easy to ignore or deal with. During this period there is an increased risk of arguments, contentious encounters and even violence with volatile expression and feelings that occasionally may be subject to extremes. This may be especially likely where there is the consumption of alcohol as differences between individuals may be magnified with little tendency towards an amicable solution. Indeed there may be a propensity to argue even if only for the sake of it.

In addition to the New Moon there is also the peak of the alignment between Venus and Neptune to take into account. This short lived but influential alignment has contributed to refined, delicate, idealistic, and sentimental emotions with an increased appreciation of things of beauty and of value and may have contributed to an enriched Christmas experience to ward off other more negative feelings. Only a day short of the New Moon and tensions are running understandingly high. Extra zest and aggression, but also extra risk of contentious violent and volatile attitudes are all possible along with confused or chaotic thoughts and actions.

Under these circumstances there may be frequent changes of mind with low concentration and attention. In addition to this it may be difficult to commit oneself to hard work and effort and as we have mentioned in frequent previous alerts this is partly due to the special energies of this period as the Sun begins to align to a background of our own Galaxy - the Milky Way!

This month New Moon tensions are rendered all the more powerful by the peak of the Venus/Neptune alignment. This creates sensitive, sentimental, and emotional thoughts and feelings with the possibility of mood swings, deceit and self deception. Either way this period is prone to extremes. This was very dramataically illustrated by the tragic killing of around eight people when a crazed gunman opened fire on a Christmas Eve party at a town around 25 miles east of Los Angeles.
