We are now in the immediate run up to the next New Moon in around five or six days. This means a gradual increase in tension and anxiety including nervous restlessness, which due to on going planetary alignments are already notably heightened.

In particular we are now seeing a strong influence from the alignment between Mercury and Mars. For over a week now this has created highly energetic and passionate moods with strong feelings and widely polarised attitudes. These can suddenly alternate between well intentioned moods and feelings to hostile, vindictive and outright violent mood impulses of a very striking nature.

An example of this are the recent college killings in Finland where a lone gunman embarked on a frenzied shooting spree that left at least 11 dead, including the 22 year old gunman who later shot himself. This illustrates the heightened tensions of the period and although we have only just come through the period we often refer to as the ‘emotional doldrums’ this present time is also heavily influenced by the on going opposition between Uranus and Saturn.

As outlined in previous alerts this disposes to cruel self centred acts with high ambition together with an element of perverse ruthlessness. As ever when it comes to Uranus the most heinous, brutal and cold blooded of actions become all the more evident and means that over the coming months even more lurid news stories will be making the headlines with stark and at times appalling acts of seemingly mindless violence, perversity, and excess. On the subject of perverse and crazy acts and circumstances it is only necessary to draw attention to the recent financial tribulation where stocks and shares, as well as major financial institutions saw a roller coaster ride in what some described as the worst week since the ‘Great Depression’ and the Wall Street crash. At the end of it several major banks were ruined and led to a major bail out package of so called ‘toxic stocks’ from the US government who in an unprecedented gesture offered a trillion dollars of tax payers money to buy the bad debts that accumulated following the sub-prime mortgage crisis that began just over a year ago.

The important point is that although this was an on going crisis it came to the boil immediately after Uranus, with its propensity for extremes began to exert its highly unsettling effects; an influence that was widely predicted here at Mood Alert and one that always brings problems and extremes of circumstance.

Coming days will see yet further increase in general tensions and anxiety but with it an increasing zestfulness and energy that will be good for enterprising activities. However it is necessary to warn that ones sense of judgement may be heavily impaired with erratic, impetuous and sometimes ill judged decisions. Some of these may well bear considerable fruit but an element of recklessness may prevail and this could open up the door to severe losses and heavy financial expenditure on trivial items or those that quickly lose their attraction. Indeed extremes of mood and circumstance will always be possible and this will be especially so where there is the consumption of alcohol whose effects will now be greatly magnified.
