We are still very much in what we sometimes refer to here as the ‘doldrum’ period, which lasts for no more than a couple of days and occurs midway between the Full Moon and New Moon or vice versa. This can create subdued and flattened emotions with reduced enthusiasm and optimism.

As well as anything this can lead to some degree of depression, melancholia, or reduced self confidence. The reality is that while there may be something of these feelings to the present atmosphere this is far from being a typical ‘doldrum’ period. The reason for this are numerous planetary alignments that are rendering a degree of heightened and at times volatile moods and feelings.

Other than the phase of the Moon the prime mood influencing factor of this time is the alignment between Venus and Mercury, both of which are in opposition to Uranus. This is creating a contrast of moods whereby the agreeable, affectionate and more harmonious nature of the Venus/Mercury alignment is countered by the erratic, self willed and divisive elements of Uranus. This can also create feelings that deviate powerfully from the norm with out of character emotions that may include thoughts and ideas that may seem as if they have come from the mind of another person.

The above mentioned alignment can also create a powerful sense of energy with heightened awareness and perception and also the possibility of turbulent moods and feelings. This means that contentious situations may arise from the merest pretext and there is the possibility of extreme moods and feelings with even the possibility of violent and uncontrollable outbursts. These will be made all the more likely where there is the consumption of alcohol and since there will be an urge to drink more than usual alcohol fuelled incidents are a distinct possibility.

As we mentioned yesterday we are now exiting from one bloc of alignments that have been with us for some time only to see us emerge into a new mood influence whose implications will be outlined in a future alert bulletin. For the moment then there is the contrast of refined and affectionate mood influences placed against an altogether more forceful, energetic and at times extreme pattern of moods that may create tension or upheaval within the family and lead to nervous upsets, disorder, and indecision. At the same time there may be an intense craving for escapism in its limitless guises and the temptation of instantly rewarding activities may be hard to resist.
