Today is the day of the Full Moon and inevitably this will mean extremely heightened moods and emotions with intense nervous restlessness, tension and anxiety. For some this atmosphere will tend towards crisis level with the possibility of extremes of mood and experience.
This month the Full Moon is made all the more intense by the continuing presence of numerous planetary alignments at the height of one of the years most concentrated periods of celestial activity.
Today also sees the Sun at the height of its alignment with Neptune which is also in opposition to the Moon. Likely mood traits include acute emotional sensitivity with refined, delicate and vulnerable emotions that may be prone to nervous upsets apprehension and anxiety.
Under these circumstances some will feel driven to the very edge of what they feel they can stand and there will also be a strong urge to relieve the hyper alert feelings of this period through escapism in its limitless guises. At its more mundane level this could mean drinking more alcohol than usual and in so doing heighten the risk of turbulent emotions and feelings that may be difficult to contain.
Even without the consumption of alcohol this will always be an atmosphere disposed to strong moods and feelings with the potential for arguments, violent outbursts or just generalised irritability. Inevitably this harbours the possibility of substantial friction within the family setting and even the most trivial of provocation will be enough to trigger major eruptions of anger and aggression.
The above mentioned feelings associated with truculent and bad tempered behaviour will be further sharpened by the on going opposition between Mars and Uranus. The pair have been conjunct for over three weeks and have contributed to an atmosphere of erratic, strong willed, rebellious and over bearing attitudes that can lead to considerable conflict. This was never more evident than the sudden outbreak of fighting between Russian and Georgian forces or the headlines that spread right across the world regarding Russia’s threat of a nuclear strike against neighbouring Poland.
Uranus is well known for its strong deviation from the norm and in this case it shows that even heads of state are not immune to highly provocative acts and statements that in a quieter mood climate may never have been uttered. For more on these stories please go to the following links:

The fact that this period has been one of incredibly high tensions is illustrated in a recent newspaper feature which claims that in Britain divorces have spiralled by 150% over the last two months. The reasons given for this are post vacational blues or the effects of the growing credit crunch, but as frequent visitors to this site will know this period has also coincided with one of the most concentrated periods of celestial activity for a good many years. This has seen especially divisive and stress laden alignments that at the end of last year led us to give a special warning that 2008 would be an extremely difficult year. There is no doubt that this current situation is one of incredibly powerful moods and feelings that for some may prove to be highly distressing. Indeed those prone to sensitive moods may feel especially troubled. In addition the massive alignment involving Saturn, Mercury and Venus could lead to some degree of depression or lowered self confidence and esteem. Coming on top of an already top heavy mood environment it is scarcely any wonder that this period is so laden with stress inducing inclinations. The comfort is that towards the middle of next week there should be a change to considerably less strident conditions.
Alert is 9. Moon 100% illuminated.
