Today is the day of the New Moon which this month also coincided with a Total Solar eclipse that was visible from numerous parts of the world stretching from Greenland and Arctic Canada to China and beyond.

As with any New Moon situation the general emotional atmosphere is tense and anxious with increased nervous restlessness. Under these circumstances there will be noticeable agitation with raised apprehension that may see all problems magnified or assume undue dimensions. Inevitably there may be a disposition towards aggressive energy with raised passions that may result in contentious encounters, arguments or volatile expression. Indeed where there is a difference of opinion any disagreements may turn extremely nasty and there may be little restraint in what is said or done.

This month the effects of the New Moon will be further magnified by the fact that it occurs at a period that is at the centre of one of the years most concentrated periods of planetary alignments. For example today also sees the Sun in alignment with Mercury which is also in opposition to the Moon. Effectively it means that there will be a greatly increased sense of awareness with powerful mental and nervous stimulus that for some may be just a little too much for comfort. In fact sensitivities will be so high that they will easily dispose to indecisive, worrying and restless inclinations with a very alert and receptive faculties.

As mentioned numerous times already this atmosphere is also affected by numerous on going oppositions. The first concerns the opposition between Uranus and Mars. For some days now this has contributed rebellious, self willed, passionate and impulsive feelings with the possibility of bizarre, unusual, or irritable responses that may deviate strongly from ones normal behaviour.

Under these circumstances there may be drastic or extreme solutions to even the most mundane of problems with a disposition towards ruthless hard edged moods and attitudes. At times like this one is usually confronted by notably brutal news stories of a nature that can be truly abhorrent. An example of this is a recent murder in Brazil where a 17 local man stabbed and later hacked to pieces his British girlfriend before disposing of her in a suitcase. As on previous days Venus remains in opposition to Neptune and this will at least introduce some vestige of more balanced or refined emotions. Other likely mood traits include delicate, sentimental and sensitive emotions with idealistic inclinations that may however be susceptible to self deceit or an easy sense of disappointment and disillusionment. On the other hand it may also incline to an appreciation of the finer things in life with an attraction towards things of beauty or an appreciation of the arts, and in particular music which may come to assume greater than usual importance.

There is no doubt that for some this may come to represent an extremely difficult mood atmosphere with great intensity of emotions with chronic insecurity and doubts that may act as a debilitating influence that will be hard to shake off. However there is also a chance that the zestful energy of the New Moon in combination with several of the above mentioned characteristics from other alignments may introduce an altered psychology, that may allow matters and life in general to be viewed in a different and more original manner. In addition there may be a strong need for variety and change and this too may inspire new plans and ideas even if it may require extra determination and effort to bring them to fruition.
