This is still very much what may be termed a ‘doldrum period’ as we refer to it here when the Moon is between around 50 - 40 % illuminated. During that time there is a short but noticeable down turn in the intensity of moods and emotions.

For some the so called ‘doldrum’ period may be a welcome development but for others it may represent substantial difficulties. If for example one is able to take things very much at ones own pace with few obligations or difficulties then this may be an ideal period to rest and relax. If on the other hand one is required to work to a rigid deadline or timetable then this phase of the Moon could result in a pressured, not to mention oppressive mood environment. In addition there may be a low sense of motivation with poor self confidence together with an easy disposition to disillusionment and discouragement.

Under these circumstances setbacks and problems could weigh heavily on the mind, with subtle fears and concerns that may be hard to surmount. Indeed summoning the necessary drive and desire to achieve anything special may be extremely difficult. However this ‘doldrum’ period is colored by a number of extremely powerful alignments that are contributing to a highly complex mood scene as we move into one of the years most concentrated periods of planetary alignments.

Some much needed zest may come from the fast developing alignment between the Sun and Mercury. This is sure to add powerful mental and nervous activity but can incline towards nervous upsets with a strong desire for variety and change. Hence there may be an overwhelming force towards altering ones circumstances and where no clear alternative exists, this may soon lead to frustration and deeply unsettled moods and emotions.

Another powerful alignment at this time is the opposition between Uranus and Mars. This is relatively slow moving and its likely mood traits include erratic, rebellious and self willed moods and feelings with impulsive, irritable or even eccentric inclinations. Passions will be easily aroused and although this is not a naturally confrontational period there is the likelihood of arguments and contentious encounters, particularly in connection with alcohol consumption, and there may be a tendency to drink a little more than usual.

Another strong mood influencer is the opposition between Venus and Neptune. This is now coming to a peak and likely mood traits associated with this include delicate or sentimental thoughts and feelings with a better sense of harmony and rhythm. This could mean that one relates well to things or beauty with a particular emphasis on the arts, and music in particular. However this same alignment can lead to self deception, confusion and also heighten the tendency towards disillusionment mentioned earlier in this bulletin.

It will be seen that this present mood atmosphere is one of great complexity with contrasting emotions that range from low self confidence and esteem to very passionate, eccentric and excitable feelings that will be particularly susceptible to alcoholic consumption. At times this mixture may prove confusing or lead to an insecure and vulnerable attitude under which it may be hard to reach important choices. However as mentioned earlier, this period is best taken at its own pace with the fewest possible demands placed on ones time and efforts. That way it is possible that the atmosphere will just naturally take over according to its own rhythm, rather than trying to impose oneself on a very strong mood scene, which in these circumstances is sure to lead to unhappiness.
