As mentioned in previous alerts the current phase of the Moon is one that habitually tends towards reduced zest and enthusiasm in a period that is often described here as the ‘emotional doldrums.’ This may certainly be an accurate assessment of this current period and many may find this atmosphere one filled with negative thoughts and feelings.

In particular there may be a diminished sense of inspiration with depressive moods and emotions, along with a tendency to disappointment and disillusionment. In fact some may be prone to a particularly hefty atmosphere of futility, so that problems may appear insoluble to the extent of finding it difficult to summon the determination to deal with them. This may give way to considerable frustrations or else a highly pessimistic view of ones future prospects that may be tinged with significant doubts and low self confidence. If so, it should be warned that these are only impressions based on the current state of celestial influence and that coming days, as we begin the rise to the next Full Moon will doubtless see a much more invigorating mood with a greatly improved degree of optimism and determination.

One of the prime factors of this current alert is the alignment between Mars and Saturn which is currently at a peak, with the closest meeting of the two planets for the next 14 years. The pair are currently less than a degree apart and for the last week or so this has given rise to quite definite mood traits.

The fact is however that the various mood characteristics of the two planets are of contrasting opposites: Mars with its brash assertive and forceful energy, and Saturn with its more cautious, timid and restricted mood influence. It means that moods will see a similar polarisation of emotions though currently it may be that the attributes of Saturn will be the most apparent. In tandem with the current Lunar phase this may instil still further limitation and result in a stunted emotional experience, prone to doubts, worries and misgivings. On the other hand some may just find that the intense frustration of this period may manifest itself in cruel or even violent moods with selfish or self centred inclinations. Other possibilities include strongly ambitious feelings with unscrupulous or ruthless tendencies.

As on many previous occasions it should be stressed that the consumption of alcohol may sharpen these feelings still further and could result in particularly turbulent moods and emotions. This is especially likely as this atmosphere may foster repressed tendencies that when liberated through drink may explode with quite dramatic consequences. As this mood will also make some want to drink more than usual, the possibility of alcohol fuelled incidents is higher than it would normally be.

Some measure of balance may come from the opposition between Venus and Jupiter. The pair have been conjunct for around a week now and likely mood traits include pleasanter and more fun loving emotions that will restrict the harsher elements of this mood pattern but not entirely replace them. Even so the Venus/Jupiter alignment will act as an important mood influence to instil better harmony and understanding, not to mention affection and friendship. Unfortunately it can also lead to exaggerated or extravagant gestures with the potential for accidents, carelessness, or large financial losses and expenditure.

The next few days will begin the rise to the next Full Moon in around a weeks time. Inevitably this will also see sharpened moods and feelings with a greater sense of zest and enthusiasm but also attributes associated with tension and anxiety.
