The extreme nature of this period surrounding the New Moon was never more forcefully illustrated than the brutal London murder of two French students in their apartment flat in a southern suburb of the English capital. Hardened London crime scene detectives admitted that this was an especially brutal and frenzied killing the like of which they had never before encountered. One of the students was stabbed up to 100 times before an accelerant was poured across the bodies and the flat set alight.

Only the other week we highlighted this current New Moon period as one capable of the most extremes of circumstance. This became especially likely by the added influence of the Mars/Saturn alignment, which can inspire violent, cruel and unscrupulous behaviour patterns.

In the early hours (GMT) of the 5th of July there were a spate of major earthquakes of a magnitude that is unprecedented since Mood Alert has been running. During the space of little more than 2 minutes there were no fewer than 4 quakes above 7 in magnitude. Here it should be stressed that these were separate earthquakes occurring some hundreds of miles apart. Below are the details:

The relevance of these quakes is that they occur at the seismologically vulnerable period that immediately follows every New or Full Moon. Indeed as we have said numerous times before this represents a particularly hazard prone time which this month was made all the more precarious by the added stress of numerous powerful planetary alignments.

Although strong earthquakes are often associated with the Full Moon it is a matter of record that at least eight of the ten largest earthquakes over the last century have a definite New Moon connection.

This still continues to be a time of heightened emotional insecurity that for some will have the potential to reach extremes. In addition there will be tense nervous restlessness that could make it difficult to relax and settle. Coupled to this there may be quite notable anxieties or irrational fears and impressions with increased awareness and perception.

The above mentioned traits give some indication of the complex celestial pattern that now exerts a very strong influence over moods and feelings. For example Mars is now moving to the peak of its alignment with Saturn and in a sense this will create very polarised emotions with widely contrasting extremes. An example is the strong discipline of Saturn contrasted by the more impassioned nature of Mars. Likewise the hurried, brash and more assertive elements of Mars are opposed by the more reserved and demure attitudes of Saturn.

Inevitably this clash of emotions will lead to confusion and frustration - the feeling of being full of bold ambition whereas at the same time riddled with doubts, caution or insecurity. Read the rest of this entry »
