We are now less than a day away from the New Moon which this month will result in a total eclipse of the Sun visible from various parts of the world. In ancient societies total Solar eclipses were viewed with intense foreboding though modern science now views this attitude as superstitious nonsense. However the New Moon and accompanying eclipse is a exceptionally strong alignment featuring an exact conjunction between Sun, Moon and Earth. As such the energies are particularly intense and total Solar eclipses have often been associated with amazingly devastating earthquakes or other major natural disasters that have claimed thousands of lives.

With regard to moods and emotions it is inevitable that as with any New Moon situation there will be heightened moods and feelings with strong nervous restlessness, apprehension, and anxiety. As a consequence there is a likelihood of strained and anxious emotions together with uneasy, insecure or vulnerable moods and feelings. Under these circumstances problems may appear to loom large and assume undue proportions.

This month the effects of the New Moon are further added to by on going planetary alignments that constitute a powerful mood influence in one of the years most concentrated periods of planetary activity. In addition some of these alignments are of an extremely challenging nature. Today sees the peak of the Sun/Mercury alignment which comes just several days ahead of the New Moon, at a time which represents one of the years most concentrated periods of planetary alignments.

For several days now the Sun/Mercury alignment has contributed towards an atmosphere of increased alertness and awareness with powerful mental and nervous activity. For some this may be just a little too much for comfort and in combination with the impending New Moon will mean strong moods and feelings with tense and anxious emotions.

Under these circumstances there will be raised fears and apprehensions and those susceptible to sensitive mood atmospheres may find this period difficult, and make them prone to nervous episodes, panic attacks ,or generalised agitation. In addition problems may appear magnified or assume undue dimensions. There is also likely to be a strong desire for change and variety with an unsettled disposition that may not easily be calmed. Inevitably under these circumstances people may find themselves drinking more than usual or else resorting to limitless coping techniques and strategies designed to alleviate the high emotions this period is capable of generating. With just two or three days to go before the impending New Moon moods and emotions will inevitably tend towards the tense and anxious with increased nervous restlessness as well as the possibility of extremes of mood and circumstance.

Under these conditions uneasy and unsettled emotions may form part of a varied patchwork of emotions that is a reflection of the highly concentrated pattern of planetary alignments at this time. For all this the next few days will see a kind of conformity of moods as the alignment situation remains relatively unchanged with just the countdown to the New Moon to add growing tension to this already very heightened mood atmosphere. We are now just four or five days away from the next New Moon and over the coming days this is bound to raise tensions and anxieties with a heightened sense of awareness and moods that may all too easily tend towards extremes or crisis level.

Some of the above mentioned feelings may already be very much in evidence and in conjunction with several notable planetary alignments there is every indication that coming days will incline towards stress laden moods and emotions.

One of the most powerfully influential alignments of this period is the continuing opposition between Uranus and Mars. Any alignment involving Uranus is bound to tend towards extremes and this conjunction is no exception. Likely mood traits include erratic, rebellious and self willed moods and feelings with impulsive, irritable or even eccentric inclinations. Passions will be easily aroused and although this is not a naturally confrontational period there is the likelihood of arguments and contentious encounters, particularly in connection with alcohol consumption, as there may be a tendency to drink a little more than usual.
