For some this may appear like a flattened period of emotions with little inspiration or enthusiasm. In addition it may feel harder to get going with noticeable frustrations and irritability that may occasionally spill over into arguments, simmering resentments, or hostility. On top of this there may be some degree of nervous restlessness that could make it difficult to concentrate, or focus on the task in hand.

On the whole however it is likely that the more subdued or melancholic elements of this alignment will be dominant, and this will be reinforced by a number of different sources.

One of the principal elements of this alert period is the continuing opposition between the Moon and Saturn. The two will remain conjunct until around noon GMT (08:00 EDT) on the 28th of May. Likely mood traits to result from this centre around the limiting, restricted, or disciplined nature of Saturn, but also its tendency to inhibited constrained or a timid disposition with lowered self confidence. Added to this there may be acute self consciousness with depressive or melancholic feelings, and a reduced enthusiasm for even ones favourite pursuits.

The above mentioned feelings may be even further reinforced by the current phase of the Moon which at very close to 50% illuminated is sometimes associated with more subdued or flattened inclinations that we have often referred to as the ‘emotional doldrums.’ This will certainly be true of this present period and since Saturn is still somewhat square (90 degrees) to the Sun and also in long term opposition to Neptune (thus emphasising elements of emotional frustration) it is inevitable that the general mood setting will be governed by the strict control, insecurity, and limitations of Saturn.

Some measure of balance will come from the alignment between the Sun and Venus. This will instil altogether more agreeable moods and emotions, and the contrast between this and the effects of Saturn could not be more polarised. As it is the Sun/Venus alignment will instil more friendly and affectionate moods and emotions, with a greater than normal desire for friendship, shared company or intimacy. Naturally these inclinations will be tempered by the effects of Saturn mentioned above and it could mean that any romantic inclinations - strong though they may be - will be hindered by a shy and timid disposition that may lead to awkwardness and misdirected attentions. Ultimately, this may lead to disappointment with feelings of isolation and loneliness or else an intense desire for escapist tendencies in their limitless guises.

For some this will not be the easiest of atmospheres. At best it may be a time of highly distracting influences with poor concentration and a noticeable tendency towards escapism. At worst it my be an intensely unsettling period with disturbing emotional impressions that may prove challenging.
