Just a day after the Full Moon moods remain prone to tension and anxiety with increased nervous restlessness that could make it difficult to settle and feel at ease. In addition it may feel difficult to concentrate and decisions may not benefit from the best of consideration.

Even so this will habitually be a time of major changes or else decisive choices that may have important implications for the future. The fact that these decisions may not have been made through the fullest, or most careful of deliberation may become apparent later, and often after the Full Moon atmosphere has worn off there is sometimes a huge change of heart and a desire to undo some of the more extravagant or costly indiscretions.

Although the Full Moon is normally associated with aggressive and confrontational moods there are numerous alignments that will ensure that such inclinations do not become too intense.

The first of these balancing influences is the alignment of the Sun and Venus. This is only now beginning to gather force and over the next month or so will provide a more agreeable, sympathetic and friendlier mood ambience that should dilute some of the other more volatile traits emanating from other sources. In addition the Sun/Venus alignment may instil powerful romantic emotions with a strong need for affection or the need to be wanted and loved. However these feelings may be easily misapplied and this could bring disappointments or discouragement. On the whole however the Sun/Venus alignment should incline to softer and kinder feelings with an element of tolerance that will be especially important at a period of heightened emotions such as this.

Another prime element of this mood alert is the opposition of the Moon and Mercury which lasts up until around 02:00 GMT on the 22nd or 22:00 EDT on the 21st of May. Likely mood traits to result from this include powerful mental and nervous activity with a strong need for variety and change. This may lead to greatly heightened feelings that in this current Full Moon atmosphere will be rendered even more potent than usual. This will result in increased awareness and perception with a degree of alertness that some could find disturbing and uncomfortable. Indeed there may be a noticeable disposition towards worrying and needless apprehension and even trivial difficulties may assume monumental proportions.

Under these circumstances the effects of caffeine will be magnified and even moderate consumption could lead to a disproportionately large increase in anxiety and tension.

Another important influence is that of Saturn which is currently exactly square (90 degrees) to the Sun. With regards to moods this means cautious, disciplined or limited emotions with cool and calculated responses that will balance some of the more extreme Full Moon traits. Saturn can also instil doubts and insecurity with depressive, melancholic, or worrying inclinations that may be tinged with pessimism or futility. This naturally works counter to other more optimistic aspects of this alert period. For example there may be a dynamic and forward looking outlook with plenty of plans and ideas. However the influence of Saturn could mean that when difficulties arise this optimism could quickly vanish and one may labour over problems that are scarcely problems at all.

All in all this is a mood of considerable complexity and one that may be prone to sudden extremes, but at the same time not unfavourable to good fun and enjoyment. However moods may be fickle and it pays to be guarded against sudden changes in temperament.

Alert is 8. Moon 98 5 illuminated.
