We are now just two or three days away from the Full Moon and inevitably this means tense and anxious emotions with a high degree of nervous restlessness. This month the Full Moon may be even more powerful than usual because it coincides with Lunar Apogee when the Moon is at its farthest point from Earth.

Paradoxically one would expect the Moon not to be as powerful at this time, but at Lunar Apogee the Earth/Moon forces are very strong. It is precisely at this time that extra pull is required to prevent the Moon from breaking free into space, and this pull is translated into stronger moods and emotions. In fact the South east Asia tsunami disaster of several years ago occurred precisely at a similar point, with a Full Moon at the time of Lunar Apogee. Unfortunately this also means that the Earth is particularly prone to natural disasters at this time. Hence the next few days will see a heightened risk of major earthquakes and volcanic eruptions and also the risk of disturbed or unusual weather patterns. Similarly there will be a heightened potential for social or political upheaval.

On a personal level the present atmosphere is likely to see heightened sensitivity of emotion with strong moods and feelings with a vulnerable and apprehensive feel to them. Under these circumstances all problems may appear magnified and the slightest pretext may be the cause of needless arguments, confrontation, and even violence. This will be especially so where there is the consumption of alcohol whose effects will be magnified to a considerable extent. Under these circumstances there may be extreme moods and feelings with agitated outbursts or behaviour that may be distressing or objectionable to others. Similarly the effects of caffeine will also be magnified and will add yet further anxiety to an already heightened mood atmosphere.

The strong mood atmosphere of this time may create an intense desire for escapism in its limitless forms as well as a need to take the edge off the mood, which may very likely involve eating or drinking more than usual or the purchase of expensive items that may soon lose their appeal. Either way it may not be easy to keep to ones daily routine and tasks may be left unfinished or else abandoned altogether.

As with any Full Moon setting there will be a disposition to notable anxieties and concerns, and once again this may tend to extremes with the possibility of panic attacks, acute emotional frustration or a feeling of just not coping very well. In addition concentration may be far from optimal with a hesitant and timid disposition that may not respond well to situations requiring an authoritative response.

There is no doubt that for a Full Moon atmosphere this has a surprising degree of doubt and misgiving rather than the more forceful and assertive qualities that are often associated with this period. Consequently there may be feelings of melancholia or lowered self confidence with a pessimistic view of the future. Primarily these will be the effects of Saturn which is not only in a powerful long term opposition to Neptune but also coming into a square (90 degrees) aspect with the Sun. As it is this will certainly be enough to see the more demure, timid and controlled nature of Saturn come to the fore and although it may act as a brake against more strident Full Moon attitudes it could impose an unwanted degree of depressive moods and feelings.

Coming days will see an increase in overall tensions and anxiety but the influence of Venus, which is about to align with the Sun and also come into opposition with the Moon could add a more agreeable feel to the general mood pattern.

Alert is 8. Moon 94% illuminated.
