The current emotional atmosphere is largely defined by two continuing long term oppositions. They are are opposition between Saturn and Neptune, and the opposition between Mars and Jupiter. These have been active for around three weeks now and have exerted a strong influence over moods and emotions.

In many respects the two above mentioned oppositions have completely contrasting traits. The Saturn/Neptune opposition may tend towards emotional frustration with confusion of thought and purpose as well as inhibited enthusiasm or creative ability. It can also give way to a neurotic worrying disposition and although amenable to sensitive and delicate emotions may also traslate this into mellow or melancholic moods with depressive inclinations and severe lack of confidence. Added to this there may be a deeply pessimistic outlook together with an easy sense of disappointment or disillusionment.

By contrast the traits of the Jupiter/Mars opposition incline more towards positive and dynamic thoughts and emotions. These may result in forceful and assertive attitudes with the risk of confrontation and arguments. Indeed where there is a source of contention events may easily sprial out of control with little restraint in what is said or done. In fact, as is often mentioned here the two planets have the dubious distinction of being known as the ‘planets of war.’

The Mars/Jupiter opposition can also dispose towards an adventurous pleasure seeking atmosphere with the potential for great enjoyment and entertainment. However it also risks foolhardy or reckless gestures with careless ill judged actions that may result in accidents, arguments or large financial losses. Another potential is for megalomania with a superiority complex that may consider oneself invulnerable to the risks associated with ones activities.

The reality is that the two separate and distinct mood atmospheres mentioned above will tend to cancel one another out. This may result in a frustrating period of stagnation, with the inclination to do things, coupled with the restraint and lack of confidence that may prevent one from acting on ones ideas and impulses. As a consequence it may feel harder to get going and jobs may tend to be left unfinished. A strong sense of escapism will make this all the more likely as other more emotionally rewarding alternatives will be hard to resist and the idea of instant rewards and gratification will be hard to ignore.

Some may come to find this atmosphere more than just a little difficult to deal with. However the days ahead may see a definite climb down to more agreeable emotions, with less of the intensity that has characterised moods over the last week.
