The Moon is now in opposition to Saturn and will remain so until around 07:00 GMT (02:00 EDT) on the 9th of February. In the meantime the Moon will align with Uranus at around midnight GMT, or 19:00 EDT.

Added to this there is the alignment of the Sun and Neptune to consider and also the fact that this is still very much a New Moon atmosphere with all the tensions and restless energy that this entails.

With regard to moods and emotions the next few days will be subject to a highly complex celestial influence with a roller coaster of feelings that may prove to be quite challenging. As such the influence of Saturn in opposition to the Moon means a rather more subdued, reserved or limited emotional outlook with restrained moods that may verge on depression, lack of confidence or pessimism.

Under these circumstances there may be a disciplined temperament that should moderate any New Moon animosities but this control may be used for more sinister purposes as any anger may be directed towards vindictive acts of a premeditated nature rather than just a brief but explosive show of anger.

On the other hand this may be a period to take stock of ones direction in life with a view to making major changes, and this extra element of balance may add equilibrium and a much needed sense of proportion to any such changes. In any case this may not be the ideal period for major decisions as it is far from being an emotionally stable platform in which to reach any important conclusions.

As mentioned above the Moon is now about to align with Uranus. As frequent visitors to this site will know this constitutes one of the most disruptive of the routine Lunar alignments. Coming as it does once every month (twice if you include oppositions) this highlights a brief but intense period of emotional insecurity that is capable of extreme moods and feelings. In fact as we have frequently pointed out Moon/Uranus alignments are often to be found where there are particularly vicious acts of seemingly random violence, or mass killings, or crimes that stand out for their bizarre, eccentric or even perverse elements.

Certain to say that the average Moon/Uranus alignment is characterised by a period of changeable, restless or galvanic energy with over excitable feelings that will all too easily incline towards extremes. Under these circumstances drastic or dramatic events are possible and there is a heightened risk of disruption or upheaval within the family setting. This alignment is also disposed to bizarre, eccentric, or unusual behaviour with out of character moods and feelings.

Fortunately as mentioned above the overall mood at this time is balanced by the influence of Saturn and although this can incline to pessimism or melancholia it can act as a brake against some of the stronger moods of this time.

Also significant at this time is the alignment between the Sun and Neptune. In an already heightened mood atmosphere this will add yet further sensitivity and natural sense of insight with near psychic awareness. This will also enhance spiritual and mystical awareness, but may also make one more prone to escapism, particularly that offered through drugs or drink.

On the more positive side this will be an intensely creative atmosphere or one where it is easier to direct ones inspiration into constructive channels of expression.

All in all this is a highly complex atmosphere and the coming alignment between the Moon and Uranus will require the greatest of vigilance. Conversely this period is one that may be of pivotal importance in redirecting ones energy and abilities to more satisfying long term aims and desires.
