2008 - What to look out for.
The year 2008 will be one of unusually complex and long lasting planetary alignments that are sure to bring a wide variety of moods and emotions. Sometimes these will be at variance with one another with a clash of traits and attributes that will contribute to an incredibly rich field of celestial influence.
Of particular note is the way that the years Full and New Moons will be made all the more powerful because each one of them coincides with the Moon also being aligned with either Mars or Uranus. This is guaranteed to result in a particularly tense run up to each of the New and Full Moons of the year, especially so since the Moon will also be aspecting with numerous other planets at these times.
Another special point regarding 2008 is that for the first time in numerous years there is not a single day that is not subject to the influence of some major alignment. It means that this year, whether for better or for worse, will be conditioned by an immense celestial signature that will mark the year out as one of considerable significance. Inevitably there will be good things as well as bad, providing challenges, trials, and tribulations but also opportunities, with the necessary awareness and perception to change ones life for the better.
As mentioned above the whole of this year is characterised by very concentrated periods of celestial activity, but below are a few periods that really stand out as worthy of special attention. It is recommended that you follow the information given of this page with a reference to our chart of celestial alignments for 2008 which can be found at the link below:
[1] 2008 Alignments.
Noteworthy periods in 2008
20th January - 11 th February
This will see notable alignments between Mercury and Neptune and the opposition between Mars and Venus. The Mercury/Neptune alignment will eventually be joined by the Sun, and the Venus/Mars opposition will give way to an alignment between Venus and Jupiter.
So far as moods and emotions are concerned this is likely to be a tense and mentally active period with a high degree of alertness and mental acuity.
Mercury and Neptune may contribute to an easily disturbed nervous system with a tendency to confused thinking, but also the possibility of sensitive and idealistic emotions with imaginative thoughts and inclinations. When this alignment is joined by the Sun it will sharpen the impressional side of these emotions with added perception and a degree of awareness that may border on the mystical.
Venus and Jupiter will contribute a generous and expansive nature with greater harmony and balance, but also the possibility of unusual or exaggerated tastes. Key dates of maximum tension are likely to occur just before, during, and after the Full Moon on the 21st of January. Another key date is the period around the 7th of February with the coming of the New Moon, which will be preceded by a number of notable Lunar alignments.
23rd February - 22nd of March.
This constitutes one of the tensest periods of the year, and lasts for around a month beginning around the last week in February. This sees the Sun in opposition to Saturn and later in direct alignment to Uranus.
As such the effects could hardly be more diverse, contrasted by the balanced, restrained, disciplined and limited nature of Saturn and the extreme, eccentric, and disruptive nature of Uranus.
This should be a highly interesting, not to say challenging period that is sure to leave its mark with some highly extreme atmospheres.
The same period sees Venus and Mercury aligned, for just over a month and fortunately this should act as some sort of balance against the extreme nature of Uranus. Likely traits to develop from the Venus/Mercury alignment are gentler, more harmonious and agreeable disposition with a kinder and more sympathetic outlook.
Towards the end of the first week in March, Venus and Mercury will be joined in alignment with Neptune. This will tend towards more easily disturbed moods and emotions which in tandem with the Sun/Uranus alignment highlights this as a period of the highest tension. Particularly difficult may be the days around the 7th of March as we come up to the New Moon, when the Moon will also be aligned with Uranus - Definitely a time of the very highest tension and one to watch out for.
22nd April - 19th May.
It says a lot for the intensity of this years moods when a period featuring the highly divisive Mars/Jupiter opposition actually qualifies as the years sparsest period of planetary alignments. However that effectively is the truth of things and the above mentioned period sees the fewest alignments of the year. However Mars and Jupiter will at least ensure that this period will have its fair share of friction, and events on the international front should be highly interesting to say the least.
2nd June - 29th June
This constitutes another of the years most contentious periods with a series of highly complex alignments that are sure to exact a major effect on moods and feelings. Amongst other things this period largely features the triple alignment involving the Sun, Mercury and Venus. In fact the Sun and Venus will stay aligned for just over five weeks.
For a good deal of this period Mars will be in opposition to Neptune, and later this alignment will be joined by Saturn.
So far as moods are concerned this period is likely to be one of powerful mental and emotional activity with increased perception and awareness. This will be combined with more sympathetic and affectionate moods with a strong love of intimacy and pleasure. Creative and expressional abilities will be well to the fore and there will be an enhanced degree of spiritual and mystical awareness.
The Mars/Neptune opposition will likely contribute to sensitive and energetic moods with a highly coloured imagination that may be prone to irrational fears and concerns. This may lead to mental and emotional confusion, though artistic and creative talents will be very well indicted.
One date to look our for in this period is the time around the 18th of June with the coming of the Full Moon.
16th July - 25th August
This period will see the Sun aligned with Mercury and then later both will be in opposition to Neptune. This continues to around the 4th of August when Mercury falls out of the alignment to leave the Sun in opposition to Neptune. At the same time Mars comes into a month long alignment with Uranus.
This latter alignment will have an immense effect on moods with a powerful deviation from the norm, along with erratic, excitable and passionate emotions that will be high on nervous tension. This alone will confirm this period as one of the most contentious of the year.
A specially contentious period will occur around the time of the New Moon on the 1st of August and shortly after this on the 4th when the Moon is in alignment with Mars and in opposition to Uranus, creating circumstances of the utmost tension.
Emotions will again come to a head around the 16th of August with the Full Moon and shortly after this with a direct alignment of the Moon and Uranus.
29th September - 17th November
Another of the sparsest periods of planetary alignments for 2008 occurs between the dates shown above. Apart from the usual run of Lunar alignments this period is only otherwise characterised by the opposition between Saturn and Uranus.
20th November - 31st December
The end of the year sees one of the years most concentrated periods of planetary alignments. This features a series of Solar alignments involving Mercury and Mars, and the three of them stay aligned until around the end of the first week in December. This will lead to a highly alert, tense, assertive, or aggressive period of moods with a high degree of irritability, sarcasm and restlessness.
After the first week in December Mercury slips out of the alignment to leave the Sun and Mars aligned until around Christmas time. With regards to moods this is sure to lead to a period of heightened moods and emotions with quite notable passions and energetic behaviour. It is also likely to result in a highly assertive, confrontational and argumentative period that may tend towards extremism.
On the more positive side this period is likely to be one of intense productive energy high on the urge to succeed and get things done.
During this period Venus is in alignment with Jupiter and later with Neptune. Fortunately this is likely to balance some of the more extreme emotions of this period with a more generous and expansive character along with friendlier, more affectionate feelings and a greater degree of harmony and understanding.
Towards the end of the month when Venus aligns with Neptune there may be altogether more delicate feelings with a notable degree of idealism or overt sentimentality. However it may feel an altogether more confusing atmosphere with an easy sense of disillusionment, and since this alignment will be active over the Christmas period there is the risk it may add extra emotive power to an already overburdened period of emotional instability.
The last days of the year see the alignment of Jupiter and Mercury. Fortunately this will at least work well with the vacational atmosphere, contributing good humoured and optimistic moods but also the potential for careless exaggeration or accidents.
Two dates to watch out for in this period include the New Moon period around the 27th of December and the Full Moon period around the 12th of December. On both occasions the Moon will either be in opposition, or in direct alignment to Mars and this will add further tension to what is already a highly tense mood situation.
