18th - 19th October 2007

Mars will remain in opposition to the Moon until around 16:00 GMT, or 11:00 EDT. This means that moods and emotions will encounter rather more zest and enthusiasm than would normally be the case with this phase of the Moon.

Usually with the Moon around 42 % illuminated one would expect more sedate and easy going moods and broadly reminiscent of the emotional doldrums.

For some this period can easily give way to bouts of insecurity, indecision or even melancholia, and depression. However the actions of Mars will at least see to it that such feelings will be held at bay for the next 24 hours or so. This means more direct and forceful feelings with a robust sense of like and dislike. In addition there may be extra enthusiasm and the desire to get things done. This will be of immense benefit to those on a tight deadline, with enough nervous energy to carry one through any difficulties that may arise. On the other hand this mood will not be so laden with energy to become objectionable and for those wanting to take things at a much slower pace this could be the ideal atmosphere.

Although the alignment between Saturn and Venus is now past its peak, it still remains influential and for the last ten days or so this has been contributing to an atmosphere of limited but disciplined moods and feelings. Other traits to emerge from this include selfish or exacting emotions with feelings of loneliness or isolation. Under these circumstances it may sometimes be easy to feel the world is passing you by, or that no one cares, or that ones problems have never been experienced by any other person. As well as this there may be low self esteem, with lack of confidence or a poor sense of faith in ones abilities. Fortunately some of the other factors mentioned in this alert will offset the impact of these feelings, but to some extent they will still be evident.

Coming days will tend to remain sedate and largely unremarkable, with the exception of a short but sharp period of more aggressive emotions - lasting no more than a few hours - as the Moon becomes square (90 degrees) to the Earth.

Alert is 6.5 Moon 42% illuminated.
