Today is the day of the Autumnal Equinox, and the first day of autumn in the northern hemisphere, or the first day of spring in the southern hemisphere.

The Equinox is well known for its own separate tensions and increased awareness, and this year these tensions will be even further sharpened by the proximity of the Full Moon, which is now only a matter of three days away. As a result moods and emotions will be tense and on edge with increased anxiety and nervous restlessness.

In addition there may be a tendency towards aggressive moods and feelings with the potential for arguments or contentious encounters, which on occasions may be of an explosive nature. Under these circumstances subtle tensions will prevail with degrees of concern and apprehension that may give way to worry or bouts of panic. Once again this is a fairly nondescript atmosphere that may see limited enthusiasm and inspiration. In addition it may feel harder to get going and there could be an easy sense of disappointment or disillusionment that could make it harder to confront and deal with any problems.

As a consequence there may be feelings of depression or melancholia with a lowered sense of confidence. In addition there may be reduced determination and perseverance and ones daily routine may be subject to distractions, or an escapist attitude that will quickly go searching for more psychologically rewarding alternatives. Retail therapy may feature high on the list, along with gambling, drinking, or indeed anything that may be capable of producing a sudden lift to raise ones emotions. As moods go this may be a fairly nondescript atmosphere with few great highs or lows. Nevertheless there is still some need to be wary.

For example the opposition between Venus and Neptune is now at a peak and this is contributing to more delicate and sensitive moods. For some these may have the potential to cause problems, with heightened awareness and a tendency towards apprehension or confused thinking. During this phase of the Lunar cycle there is usually a brief period with few great highs or lows and broadly equivalent to the emotional doldrums.

To some extent this sums up this present time, as we are now in a period with relatively few planetary alignments. In fact there is now only the one: That is the slow, on going, opposition between Venus and Neptune. As frequent visitors to this site will know this has been contributing to an atmosphere of sensitive and refined emotions with a better balance of harmony and rhythm. This may also result in softer and more rounded thoughts with sentimental or idealistic inclinations and the likelihood of reformative ideas and actions. A slow and gradual downturn in the intensity of moods and emotions is now plainly evident. However there is still enough influence from several planetary alignments to cause problems, and although this is a considerably more sedate atmosphere than of late, there is still need to be wary.

We are still very much at the height of the opposition between Venus and Neptune. This is slow moving so that its effects will become absorbed and to some extent taken for granted. As frequent visitors to this site will know likely traits include sensitive and delicate emotions with a better balance of harmony and rhythm. This may give rise to feelings of sentimentality with idealistic inclinations or ideas for future schemes and ventures. Unfortunately it can also lead to easy disillusionment and disappointment, with reduced self confidence.
